Finding information about breast cancer can mean consulting many different sources: scientific publications, clinical trials, information about medicines, centres, institutional documents and research findings.

Why MBC was created

MBC – Medical Intelligence Search was created to make this information easier to find and consult. The project develops a document-search system dedicated to breast cancer, designed to collect, organise, connect and present information from scientific and institutional sources.

A document-search engine, not a doctor

Its role is to make information and its sources accessible, so that people using MBC can explore them further and, where appropriate, discuss them with their doctor.

Neutrality of information

MBC is designed around a fundamental principle: neutrality with regard to therapies. A therapy, molecule, clinical trial or other documented option is not hidden simply because the available information is still limited. Instead, the system can transparently show how much information is available, which sources document it and how strongly those sources converge.

Patient, Clinician and Researcher

The three modes change the level of language and detail, not the underlying scientific facts: the presentation changes, not the scientific information on which it is based.

An independent project

MBC is an independent project whose aim is to make breast-cancer document research more accessible. Its guiding principles are transparency, neutrality and verifiability of sources.
